RumbaTime to Partner with Four Charities for New Jane Collection

Jane - Time to Make a Difference

NEW YORK– RumbaTime, the New York-based accessory brand best known for its fun and fashionable timepieces, has created a custom collection of women’s watches in support of their favorite charities.  The collection is set to launch February 2016.

The Jane collection, named after the famed West Village cobblestone street in NYC, is designed to be interchangeable with cotton-braided straps reminiscent of a friendship bracelet - a symbol of love. Each look will be available in silver or gold and will retail for $60 with the option to purchase additional bands for $20. For every piece sold, $2 will be donated to that charity.

“We spent a lot of time trying to come up with a novel design that would allow us to support different causes that we are passionate about. We are beyond excited to give our amazing fans an opportunity to make a fun and socially responsible fashion statement,” explains RumbaTime co-founder Drew Deters.

(GiveDirectly, Young Survival Coalition, Action Against Hunger, Social Tees)

The four charities working in partnership with RumbaTime are GiveDirectly, a nonprofit providing assistance to Kenyans and Ugandans living in extreme poverty through unconditional cash transfers via mobile transfers; Young Survival Coalition, the premier global organization dedicated to helping young women diagnosed with breast cancer; Action Against Hunger, an organization committed to saving the lives of severely malnourished children and helping impoverished communities become self-sufficient; and Social Tees Animal Rescue, a NYC-based rescue group that saves animals from kill shelters and provides them with safe haven and veterinary care before finding them responsible adoptive homes.

RumbaTime was created with the simple idea of making time keep up with your life, instead of the other way around. Founded in 2009 by best friends Drew Deters and Jay Hartington, RumbaTime is both fueled by and inspired from their shared passion of adventure, discovery and living life to the fullest. Every season promises color and style across a diverse range of watches and accessories. Fun, fashionable and affordable - RumbaTime has something for everyone. RumbaTime has since debuted 20+ collections named after the iconic New York City locales (Gramercy, TriBeCa, Bowery, NoLIta, etc.) that inspire its designs. The brand has attracted celebrity fans such as Alessandra Ambrosio, Malin Ackerman, Rita Ora, Giuliana Rancic, Kelly Gale and fashion mavens Carolina Herrera and Nicola Formichetti. Retail partners include Shopbop, Asos, Topshop, Birchbox, Nasty Gal and Lord & Taylor. Available online for purchase at and select retailers nationwide.

Action Against Hunger saves the lives of severely malnourished children while helping communities become self-sufficient. Recognized as a world leader in the fight against malnutrition, Action Against Hunger has pursued its vision of a world without hunger for over three decades, combating hunger in emergency situations of conflict, natural disaster, and chronic food insecurity. With more than 6,500 staff in over 45 countries, our innovative programs in nutrition, food security and livelihoods, and water, sanitation, and hygiene reach more than thirteen million people each year, restoring self-sufficiency to vulnerable populations throughout the world.

GiveDirectly is a nonprofit organization currently operating in Kenya and Uganda that aims to help people living in extreme poverty by making unconditional cash transfers to them via mobile phone (through M-Pesa in Kenya and MTN's Mobile Money system in Uganda). It is the first charity dedicated exclusively to cash transfers. Approximately 90% of donor funds are sent directly to recipients, with the remaining 10% split between fees for the transfers and recipient identification and follow-up costs. This is far more efficient than other charities, according to the American Institute of Philanthropy.

Social Tees Animal Rescue (S.T.A.R.) is a not-for-profit, strictly no-kill 501c3 organization in the East Village of NYC that takes abandoned animals from kill shelters and provides them with safe haven and veterinary care before placing them in proper forever homes. S.T.A.R. rescues, rehabilitates, and places over 3000 dogs, cats, birds, and exotics per year. All dogs and cats for adoption are spayed/neutered, tested, vaccinated, de-wormed, de-flead, de-mited, microchipped, and more. S.T.A.R. takes special pride in its “Underdogs and Undercats” program, through which we find homes for many sick, injured, special needs, and senior animals.

Founded in 1991 by Robert Shapiro, S.T.A.R. is a long-standing member of the Mayor’s Alliance for NYC Animals and a participating shelter under the City of New York’s Animal Care and Control New Hope Program, which places animals in local no-kill shelters. S.T.A.R. also maintains an on-going relationship with the ASPCA, the North Shore Animal League, and Petco.

Established in 1998, Young Survival Coalition (YSC) is the premier organization dedicated to young women diagnosed with breast cancer. YSC offers free resources, connections and educational materials so young women with breast cancer feel supported, empowered and hopeful. Through action, advocacy and awareness, YSC seeks to educate and influence the medical, research, breast cancer and legislative communities to address breast cancer in young women, and ensure that no young woman faces breast cancer alone.
